Building Engineer - Full Time The Building Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of physical and mechanical building equipment, building security, and daily duties both scheduled and unscheduled, such as daily check lists, preventive maintenance schedules, and posted work orders. Essential Functions Troubleshoot and repair facility systems including boilers, pools, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing. Implement preventative maintenance program. Participate in long and short range planning and execution of maintenance needs, building safety programs, and employee training. Interact with members, staff, and contractors to build and maintain a positive environment. Requirements Qualifications Associate degree in technical field or 2 years of technical related course work Minimum of 2 years' experience in facility operations and maintenance or related field Current 2nd Class C (Low Pressure) License Current Certified Pool Operator's License (or equivalent) from the National Swimming Pool Foundation or ability to obtain one within 6 months of full time employment CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment Experience with preventive maintenance development and implementation practices Working knowledge and skills in heating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry Knowledge of applicable regulations and safety codes Ability to read and interpret schematics, wire diagrams and architect drawings Strong interpersonal communication skills Other tasks as assigned by the YMCA Director or Board Physical Demands Move 50 pound quantities of material 4-5 times a week average. Erecting and standing on scaffolding, ladders, and platforms. Work at various heights for extended periods of time. Work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder spray and aerosol forms. Paint and clean equipment as needed. Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust. Perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may include, but are not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back. Operate a variety of equipment and utilize hand and power tools. Willingness & ability to respond to facility emergencies. Offers a competitive pay and benefits.
