The Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites recent Bachelor's and Master's recipients for research associate appointments of one year with the possibility of a one-year renewal on the Scientific Software Team in the Computer Science Research Group of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of an integrated environment for modeling and simulation (Eclipse Integrated Computational Environment) that covers many areas of computational science, including applications in batteries, nuclear reactors and fuels, and other clean energy modeling and simulation efforts.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or software engineering is preferred, but applicants with recent degrees in chemistry, computer science, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics and/or a closely related discipline will be considered.
Experience in one of the application areas described above is highly desirable, but general application development work in another field may be substituted. Incumbents will have excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic group environment. Excellent teamwork abilities are required as the team meets daily, practices Continuous Integration, collaborates on the source code and has regular deadlines. Experience in high-performance computing would be beneficial. A strong background in the C+
and Java programming languages is preferred.

This position is part of the ORNL Post-Bachelor and Post Master Research Participation Program offered through Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). This is a highly selective program offering challenging opportunities to recent recipients of bachelors degrees to conduct research in areas that support ORNL missions in the basic and applied sciences, energy, and environment.
Applicants should be recent Bachelor's or Master's degree recipients or expect to complete all requirements before starting their appointments.
Applicants who have already finished their degree must be within three years of a Bachelor's or 5 years of Master's graduation at the time of application.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
