This senior leadership position, by supporting youth and family voice, will be the link between youth-guided, family-driven practice within the DMH/DCF residential service system. This position will serve as a single point of contact within the region for the integration of Family Partners into residential care for problem-solving on integration of Family Partners in residential care and the development and dissemination of family-driven practices. This position will lead regional activities that promote youth-guided, family-driven practice and coordinate quality management activities of the CT Regional Management Team as they relate to family-driven practice and family support services. This position will facilitate cross-training, technical assistance and collaborative learning among Residential Service providers, CT Family Partner providers and DCF/DMH services staff, with family leaders and family partners at the center of this practice improvement effort.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a Mental Health Coordinator or Family Partner in the mental health or health care field, of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or professional capacity.
Based on assignment to a Coordinator of Family Driven Practice position applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and (A) at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a Family Support Specialist or Family Partner in the mental health or health care field, of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or professional capacity.
Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver-s license at a class level specific to assignment.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate-s degree in psychology, human services, mental health or a closely related field may be substituted for six months of the required (A) experience.
II. A Bachelor-s degree or higher in psychology, human services, mental health or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required (A) experience.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the types and availability of public and private community based resources and programs providing mental health services to consumers
- Knowledge of the full spectrum of the mental health system
- Knowledge of all applicable state and federal laws which govern the privacy and confidentiality of information about consumers
- Knowledge of agency rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines governing assigned responsibilities
- Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of direct reports and available resources controlling work through periodic reviews and/or evaluations, determining the need for disciplinary action and recommending disciplinary action
- Ability to work independently, resolve conflicts, problem solve and make decisions
- Lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a child with significant behavioral health needs
- Senior Family Partner or equivalent management role in family support services
- Personal and/or work experience with residential services
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, coaching and training on family-driven care
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
