Position Description:
The Business Architect plays a key role in structuring the commercial organization in terms of its governance structure, processes, information and tools. This person aligns strategic goals and objectives with the execution and ongoing management of commercial excellence initiatives, as well as key business and IT initiatives. The Business Architect works to develop an integrated view of the commercial organization using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. Utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, you will drive the implementation of performance excellence culture within commercial organization to deliver effective and efficient service to our internal and external customers as well as provide useful data to the organization.
This role will manage cross-functional project teams to evaluate business processes and drive initiatives that will provide greater productivity and efficiency to increase revenue growth and profitability.
Primary responsibilities will be to facilitate Six Sigma and Lean events as well as follow-up activities across the global Optical Commercial Organization while targeting increased revenue, optimizing time to market, improving profitability, and/or improving customer satisfaction, proactively identifying and managing projects and systemic issues to full resolution as well as identifying and mitigating risk. Effectively communicating project status and escalating issues/risks across the organization and to all levels.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Develop a commercial business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios.
Apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise.
Capture the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
Define the set of strategic, core and support processes that transcend functional and organizational boundaries; identify and describe external entities such as customers, suppliers, and external systems that interact with the business; and describe which people, resources and controls are involved in the processes.
Establish and document the commercial organization value chain and build the commercial process portfolio.
Manage and prioritize the portfolio and roadmap of commercial processes improvements.
Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between the data.
Capture the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into subunits, and the internal or external management of those units.
Map current processes and recommend improved, strategic, measurable and sustainable solutions as well as identify further opportunities for improvement in commercial organization.
Assist champions, business owners and process owners with identifying, scoping, and financially justifying projects that align with the business strategy.
Act as change agent to foster a customer centric quality culture throughout the organization and drive measurable process improvements.
Lead strategic, cross functional, complex process improvements projects targeted toward increasing revenue, optimizing time to market, improving profitability, and/or improving customer satisfaction.
Recommend improved, strategic, measurable and sustainable solutions as well as identify further opportunities for improvement.
Apply project management techniques to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables.
Act as a mentor, Trainer, Coach, and technical leader in the deployment of Commercial Excellence using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
Provide expertise and share best practices across Corning regarding Six Sigma and Lean tools & methodologies, project management and team leadership.
Travel Requirements:
25% travel internationally
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
40 hours/week
Occasional before or after hours meetings with other time zones
Required Education:
BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, or Business
MBA preferred
Required Years and Area of
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in Commercial Process Architecture
A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
The ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies
The ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions
Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business
The ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture
Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
The ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT
Proven track record of financial savings/revenue generation resulting from the application of the LEAN or Six Sigma process methodologies and effective change management.
Ability to negotiate and influence key personnel across multiple business units and geographies, while influencing positive change results through awareness, understanding, acceptance and engagement.
Excellent analytical skills with a strong working knowledge of problem solving, root cause analysis, and associated solution implementation.
Ability to work independently and/or effectively with diverse, global, cross cultural teams.
Ideal candidate will be fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of applications and have a strong background in working with major IT platforms (ex. ERP, MRP, CRM).
Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Former experience in Commercial area would be strongly recommended
Green or Black Belt Certification a positive

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
