Scope of Position
Support Corning Mold Development Engineering in the mission of providing our customers with world-class tooling for new product introductions and capacity upgrades, including mold processing analysis during concept development, tool fabrication, qualification, and on-boarding.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
Day-to-Day:
Concept Development:
Provide DFM part analysis, budgetary funding estimates, capacity utilization estimates, and materials consultation for new product introductions
Evaluate final part designs, and determine the most cost effective mold design relative to manufacturing efficiency, long-term tool durability, and simplicity of tool maintenance
Fabrication and Project Management:
Initiate and sustain new project documentation utilizing existing department procedures and processes
Ensure tooling solutions meet total project life requirements, optimize cavitation, meet or exceed cycle time targets, and minimizes material usage
Interface with and manage tooling suppliers during concept development, fabrication, and final qualification of tooling
Qualification and New Mold On-boarding:
Oversee T-1 sampling of new molds and analyze mechanical performance against planned development. Ensure process capability is created and documented for long term production performance
Initiate first article inspection process and ensure that tooling performance meets engineering specifications
Provides direction for seamless tooling transfer to production across multiple sites

Research support for new technologies
Performance Excellence Projects
Urgent process-related issues impacting product quality or delivery
Fundamental understanding (MEE)Projects
Skill and Knowledge Requirements
Education:
BS in Mechanical or Plastics engineering or equivalent degree
Experience Requirements:
3-5 years knowledge of injection mold tooling and comprehensive understanding of engineering resins
3
years of plastic product and assembly design
Required Skills:
Strong project management capability
Detailed knowledge of all types of injection mold tooling
Thorough knowledge of secondary assembly and decorating processes
Ability to utilize all MS Office applications
Knowledge of tool steels and metallurgical properties
Thorough understanding of injection mold processing parameters and applications (cause and affect)
Affective verbal and written communication
Ability to lead or participate in cross-functional teams
Functional with 3D CAD software
Ability to travel (domestic and international)
Desired Skills:
Mold flow technology
Mold set-up and processing capability
Ability to trouble shoot with advanced problem solving tools
Familiarity with automation processes
Ability to operate machine tools

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
