INSTRUMENT-
ANALYZER TECHNICIAN
The Toledo Refinery is currently accepting applications for Journeyman/First Class Instrument-Analyzer Technicians positions. The starting rate of pay is $ 35.56, rising to $ 38.15 after successful completion of required training and certifications.
The Instrument-Analyzer Technician will be responsible for maintaining continuous process analyzers and other instrumentation for the Toledo Refinery complex. The primary emphasis of this position will involve troubleshooting, installing, repairing and adjusting process analyzers, indicating and controlling instrumentation and control valves.
Accountabilities of an Instrument-
Analyzer Technician Include:
Repair and maintain gas chromatograph, continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and other process analyzers throughout an oil refinery.
Maintains maintenance records on all analyzer systems.
Performs repair, completion of rounds, assists with EPA Regulated Analyzer Relative Accuracy test audits (RATA)
Maintains and manages analyzer spare parts, inventory including cylinder gas storage.
Install, repair, maintain and calibrate indicating, and controlling digital and electronic instruments to measure and control process variables, such as pressure, flow, level, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition using hand tools and precision instruments.
Understand digital control systems and valves, transmitters and transducers.
Disassemble malfunctioning instruments, examine and test mechanism and circuitry for defects.
Inspect instruments periodically and make minor calibration adjustments to assure they are functioning within specified controlled variables.
Must be able to repair control valves and positioners.
Must be able to troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical control systems.
Ability to understand Electrical Area Classification and installation requirement for electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
Safe working knowledge on NEC and NFPA 70E.

Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Instrument-Analyzer Technician applicants must have:
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Possess a valid driver's license at the time of employment.
Willingness to work 8-hour shifts and temporary off-shifts that may include weekends, holidays and overtime and perform physically active job tasks, many of which involve year-round outdoor work in all types of weather.
Willingness to participate in pre-employment testing and screening that will take several weeks to complete.
2 - year Electronics or Electrical Technology degree (approximately 72 credit hours) is preferred but not required.
Must be able to provide training/certification documenting ONE of the following prerequisites:
O Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable Journey Level Analyzer-Instrument Experience.
O The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA) Level 1 or higher is preferred and must be achieved within six months of employment.
Knowledge about the four primary process variables( i.e., flow, level, pressure, and temperature, about types J and K thermocouples), and a basic understanding of Honeywell TDC (Total Distributed Control) systems.
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
The ability to multi-task and carryout assigned projects to completion.
Must meet and maintain a body weight equal to or less than 275 pounds in order to be able to safely use required equipment.
The ability to pass a physical abilities demonstration, including but not limited to, the ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders to extended heights, turn a valve, and lift and carry up to 75 pounds up flights of stairs.
