The selected candidate will report/work under the Operations Manager and will perform the duties of operating gasoline and diesel-powered trucks, tractors, buses, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
Essential job functions include: Operating gasoline and diesel powered trucks/ tractors with or without semi-trailers or full trailers, coupled by use of a turntable (fifth wheel) or pivotal hook to transport articles/materials on government and public roads and highways; operating a bus for transporting military and civilian passengers with rated capacity of 21 or more passengers on scheduled and special long/short trips over government and public roads and highways.
Capability of becoming certified to operate MHE forklifts, with capacities varying from 2,000-45,000 lbs, and Rough Terrain Container Handler (RETCH), with the capacity of 50,000 lbs, to move, load/ unload, transfer, transport, and stack/ un-stack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and supplies from one location to another.
Additional duties may include coupling truck tractor and semi-trailer or truck and trailer, directing the arranging of and proper securing of cargo, controlling the loading/ unloading of passengers, and occasionally driving other type and size vehicles for which qualified and licensed, when required by the workload. Familiarization with and capable of operating detach- lowboys and tilt-deck trailers. Capability of becoming certified to dispense gasoline, diesel and JP-8 from a 3000-gallon dual tank fuel truck.
Will be required to perform housekeeping of work area. May be assigned to support contract requirements in a job-related area such as environmental, safety, or security. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste and may be cross-utilized in other job areas. Working conditions will generally be in an outside setting, require exertion of moderate to heavy physical effort, with some exposure to dirt and fumes. May be required to work at other sites. Work hours/days are considered Monday through Sunday with two days off during the week. Will be expected to work overtime periodically when required and regular work hours may, with proper notification, be adjusted to include shift work to meet contract requirements. Required Skills and Education
Required Skills:
o Skill and knowledge to operate vehicles with up to five forward speeds and up to six driving wheels
o Current driver's license, including Commercial Driver License (CDL A) with P, X, and T endorsements
o Ability to successfully complete the Material Handling Equipment Training Certification Course and Fuel Handler's Certification Course
o Ability to pass a physical examination every three years
o Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
o Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, climb and twist routinely throughout the workday
o Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance required for the position
