QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR
This position reports to the Quality Control Branch Supervisor and QC Inspector Lead. Performs technical inspections (both on-site and off-site) on a wide range of tactical wheeled vehicles, initial acceptance inspections upon receipt of jobs and performs final acceptance inspections on completed jobs, approve or accept repair work and certify operational readiness of equipment or refer back to the shop with deficiencies noted. Inspectors are required to prepare detailed technical inspections of large groups of equipment, identifying man-hour requirements, Fully Mission Capable (FMC) repair parts requirements, and 10/20 standards repair parts requirements, perform technical inspections and verification inspections according to contract requirements and Army regulations. Inspectors also assist management personnel in the preparation of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates and official Requests for Proposals.
Essential job functions include inspecting repair work performed by others, troubleshooting and diagnosis of combat tactical vehicles. Position must possess the skills and knowledge to perform initial, in-progress, and final inspections to the above equipment and to perform various diagnostic tests or inspections using: fixed dynamometer, compression testers, wheel adjusting meters, brake testing equipment, timing light, tachometers, hydrometer, multi-meter, engine analyzers, etc. to test major end items and components. Position has the ability to troubleshoot, interpret guides, instructions and technical manuals to determine nature of malfunction, parts needed or standards of repair.
Additional duties may be assigned to support contract requirements in a job related area such as environmental, safety and security. May be cross-utilized in other job areas. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste. May perform job assignments in a well ventilated and lighted environment or in an outside, uncontrolled environment. On-site technical inspections may be performed at a variety of locations in the State of Hawaii.
This position is located in Hawaii. Relocation assistance is not available - candidates must currently reside in Hawaii or clearly state willingness to relocate self on resume.
Required Skills and Education
Computer skills and knowledge are required to use the ETM (Electronic Technical Manual), FEDLOG, computing cost estimates for incoming jobs, and/or costs for classification of equipment.
Preferred Skills and Education
Highly prefer a background in military vehicles and maintenance and power generation. Position is fully knowledgeable of all major components, i.e. engines, transmissions, etc., to perform operational test, determine necessary parts and repairs needed.
