We have the following opening available for a Purchasing Manager at our Hillsboro, NH Specialty Products facility, the only automotive lighting manufacturing location in NAFTA! The purchasing team is responsible for contracts, selection and negotiation with vendors. Also responsible for identifying and achieving costs savings. Places orders, arranges for delivery of suppliers and materials. Follows up with vendors as needed regarding order status, delivery, and invoicing issues. Purchasing manager manages other managers, sets strategy for the Specialty Lighting (SP) NAFTA division, and aligns self and team with SP NAFTA objectives.
Core competencies Superb interpersonal skills Solution based leadership, demonstrated leadership skills High level of computer skills: SAP, Excel, Word, Outlook at a minimum Ability to work in partnership with customers (manufacturing, engineering, quality) and suppliers Ability to develop creative solutions for things we are purchasing - different materials, processes, etc. to save money, improve quality Self starter, motivated, enthusiastic, project oriented Analytical capabilities Strategic capabilities: ability to visualize the market conditions in near future and develop plans to proactively protect the company Must be able to work under pressure. Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Experience within the electronics and/or solid state lighting industryResponsibilities Leadership and direction of the purchasing team Our customer's purchasing resources are very technically savvy and experienced - our purchasing resources need to be the same. Supplier audits and cost down activities: analysis of the cost at our suppliers and how can we work together to reduce True cost of doing business with a supplier: cost is not just price. Understand the cost (to us) of quality issues, extra inspections, certifications, etc. Understand value add of the supplier: quality systems, products, processes, service provided Discussions with internal customers before negotiations are started with a supplier: what feedback is there on their materials - manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality. Seek advice from quality, supplier quality, manufacturing, and engineering about quality of purchase Get an insight into new products etc. by reading trade journals, publications. Do research on the Internet to keep updated on technology and suppliers. Attend meetings, trade shows, etc. Find the best deals for the company by applying advanced negotiating methods Find the most suitable suppliers that meet business requirements Managing budget of purchasing department Developing & implementing purchase contracts and policies Evaluate suppliers on the basis of price, quality, and service Visit manufacturing plants and distribution centers for product and process inspection and verification Be familiar about technicalities of goods or services that are purchased Understand and communicate the contents of the Supplier Handbook
Qualifications
Requires a BS plus minimum of 10 years related experience. Preferred 5 - 10 years management experience, including managing other managers.
