The Monitor Technician/Unit Clerk provides observation of electrocardiograms of monitored patients to note and document rate and rhythm, notifying registered nurse immediately of changes to ensure appropriate follow-up and/or intervention. They also provide clerical duties under that supervision of the RN

Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
Experience: One year as Monitor Technician or Telemetry Certification experience. Must be familiar with medical terminology. Must be familiar with basic ECG components. Experience in health care organization desirable. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must have knowledge of computers. Secretarial skills, i.e., typing, spelling, record-keeping, and good telephone skills. Ability to pay attention to detail while working on several tasks simultaneously. Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Requires good interpersonal skills. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to function effectively in fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Position requires some overtime and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Must be able to read, write, follow instructions and document care given in English. Ability to plan and organize.
Skills:
Licenses/Certifications: Telemetry Certification Course or equivalent experience. Current CPR certification preferred
