Role and
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant for a fast paced, client-oriented accounting department. Our business is growing rapidly and, as such, the most immediate job responsibilities for the ideal candidate is to perform certain accounting close and reporting responsibilities including recording journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, and assisting with reporting of the financial results. In addition, you will be asked to assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing those changes that improve productivity and scalability. This is a great opportunity for a degreed accountant to develop within a rapidly expanding, pre-IPO technology company. The right candidate will possess a tremendous amount of intellectual curiosity and desire for career growth. Specific responsibilities include:
Accounting Close: Responsible for the preparation of various portions of the accounting close, including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany eliminations.
Account Reconciliation: Responsible for the preparation and review of various reconciliations of accounts.
Account Analyses: Responsible for providing extensive account analyses on various balance sheet and P&L accounts.
Cash Forecasting: Responsible for oversight of 3 of the company's bank accounts and assisting with future cash projections.
Process Documentation: Assist the accounting team in defining processes, preparing process narratives, and identifying key controls.
Special Projects: Work with multi-discipline teams on various special projects as they arise.
Experience - Qualifications - and Education:
2-4 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
Public accounting or public company experience preferred but not required
CPA certification preferred but not required
PC skills, Microsoft Office programs, strong Excel skills
Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Proficiency in accounting processes, procedures, and controls
Experience in general ledger account analysis/reconciliation
Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage a heavy workload
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental and project deadlines

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
