Company Name:
Community Healthlink
Community Healthlink's (CHL) _ Youth and Family Services _ established the _ Burncoat Family Center _ in October 1992 as a residential and day treatment program for children with serious emotional issues. Located in a residential section of Worcester, Massachusetts, the Burncoat Family Center provides a safe, secure, short-term alternative to hospital treatment for children. Often, children who are hospitalized with serious emotional issues depart an institution with problems still unresolved. The Burncoat Family Center's _ Community Based Acute Treatment Program _ (CBAT) offers psychiatric and therapeutic assessment services. The program, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, accommodates 15 resident clients. Burncoat Family Center utilizes a systemic model that views youth in the context of the family and the broader relationships that influence their lives, including school, natural supports and community resources. Assessments focus on youth and family strengths, and help the child and his/her family to recognize and mobilize their assets to solve the problems they face. Burncoat Family Center employs a multidisciplinary treatment approach where residential counselors and milieu managers, educational tutors, clinicians, nurses and the psychiatry staff collaboratively work to promote and provide client-centered, family oriented and clinically driven treatment as a means to help stabilize and return clients to their natural environments. Children ages 4 through 18, with a myriad of behavioral, emotional and psychiatric difficulties are eligible to be treated in the program.
