Primary Function: Design, implementation and support of data acquisition and control systems for precision test equipment. The software engineer is part of a team that designs industrial test equipment, primarily for the transportation industries. The software engineer is involved in all phases of product lifecycle, from customer specifications and reviews to implementation and testing to training, acceptance, support and maintenance.
Core Responsibilities and Requirements:
Review technical specifications for conformance and exceptions
Software development and test in the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET environment
Accomplished oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritize a substantial work load
Availability for occasional travel, both domestic and international
Offer creative and suitable solutions to design challenges or flaws
Assist Link service technicians and customers with technical issues
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software, Electrical or Computer Engineering
Experience with Microsoft Windows PC based control systems
Strong Microsoft Office products skills including VBA
Understanding of hardware and software designs
1 year experience in a related field
Interpersonal skills for working on a team and with customer representatives
Strong troubleshooting skills
Preferred :
Experience with reports using Excel via ADO/SQL and Diadem
Microcontroller programming experience is desirable
Solid understanding of mechanical systems and undergraduate level physics
Familiarity with CAN and Ethernet communication protocols
Physical Requirements:
Position is located in a mixed office and manufacturing environment, and may involve physical activity such as bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and sitting for long periods of time.
