This is an AmeriCorps, grant-funded, one year devoted service contract commitment. AmeriCorps members can request enrollment on a one year contract basis for no more than four service years.
Examples of Work:
The Member will serve probationers focused on reducing recidivism through improving education, and employment opportunities; perform a variety of service duties ranging from teaching skills to adult and juvenile probationers focused on employment and education, facilitating curriculum based groups, developing community contacts and resources for jobs and training; networking with local colleges, school, and employers in order to explore employment and educational opportunities for probationers; and maintaining statistics of probationer achievement throughout and after program completion. AmeriCorps members will be required to complete an average of 20 direct service hours per week for the length of their service year (September 1, 2014, through August 31, 2015) and a minimum completion of 900 service hours to ensure receipt of the AmeriCorps national educational award in the amount of $2,822.00. AmeriCorps members are not considered state employees and will not receive benefits as do other state employees. The benefits an AmeriCorps member will receive during the one year devoted service contract commitment includes the living stipend, educational award, 4 hours of personal leave per month, and 12 paid holidays during their service year. The ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required. AmeriCorps Members do not receive a salary; the Member will receive a monthly living stipend in the amount of $533.83 per month.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Members must have completed 63 hours of college coursework from an accredited college in social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields, which can be substituted with related work experience.
PREFERRED:Bachelor's degree in social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
