TE SubCom has an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial attorney to be based in Eatontown, NJ. This transactional in-house counsel position will provide legal support to the bids and proposal team within the sales organization as well as work directly with company executives. This position requires an individual capable of practical problem solving and exercising independent judgment and initiative, while upholding TE's core values of integrity, teamwork, accountability and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Draft, review, manage and negotiate international commercial agreements for the supply of undersea fiber optic cable systems. Familiarity with the undersea cable industry highly preferred.
Prepare compliance matrix and bid summaries in response to requests for quote.
Solicit comments from Company's subject matter experts (IP, Insurance, Engineering, and Project Management) and ensure comments of SMEs are captured in bid response.
International travel (with little notice) forty (40%) percent of the time.
Qualifications:
Law degree from an accredited U.S. or UK law school and licensed to practice law in one or more U.S. jurisdictions or the UK.
Six to twelve years general commercial legal experience in a major law firm and/or multinational corporation. Experience in the undersea cable, oil and gas or major construction industry strongly preferred. Familiarity with liability and contract issues existing in undersea cable highly desired.
Sound business and legal judgment, with the ability to balance business objectives and risks while resolving legal issues in a timely proactive manner.
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize duties, work independently and manage multiple matters from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Experience dealing with all functional areas of business at all levels, including senior management.
Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics .
A team player who can work well with global colleagues and cross-functional teams.
