Summary
Member Communications Manager-P3
The Member Communications Manager will serve as an important member of the national membership outreach team and a communications resource for NRECA members across the country. The position will lead several member-facing communications programs, develop strategic resources in response to member requests for communications support, and create new communications tools to support NRECA and national membership priorities.
Purpose and Mission
Serve as a senior liaison to various member groups, including the Council of Rural Electric Communicators (CREC) and statewide communicators group. Regularly interface with members to coordinate on strategy, key projects and to provide progress updates.
Manage annual Spotlight on Excellence communications awards program to recognize outstanding communications work in the industry. Plans and executes all program operations and innovates new ways to increase participation and value of the program.
Manage annual New Communicators Orientation program, an event to educate new members about the industry and how to work with NRECA. Lead all program operations, including event planning and marketing and direction of member committee charged with program development.
Develop innovative strategies and tactics for elevating the role of communications at co-ops across the country and for arming communicators with resources to address the challenges facing the modern electric co-op communicator.
Develop new communications initiatives and tools to aid members in their outreach efforts and to align NRECA and member communications efforts. Serve as lead writer and strategist on projects; also lead marketing of new programs to members and engage them in obtaining feedback about ongoing needs. Coordinate with internal creative services and social media teams as needed to support various projects.
Assist in responding to member requests for strategic and tactical communications support. Deliver presentations to member groups on key NRECA communications initiatives and member resources.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, public affairs or marketing preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and additional experience.
Seven or more years experience in strategic communications and/or marketing; trade association and/or communications/PR agency experience strongly preferred.
Strong writing skills, with experience developing key messages and communications materials that resonate with a variety of audiences.
Must have experience managing complex communications projects and leading diverse teams of internal and external stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
Must be able to assess program efficiencies, measure impact and adjust strategies to enhance outcomes.
Also must be able to adapt programs and projects to leverage communications best practices and new developments.
Ability to assess client/member needs and develop innovative, tailored communications programs to solve challenges.
Must be a persuasive public speaker and be confident in providing strategic communications counsel to others.
Strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects are essential.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
