Summary:
Monitors and operates controls in the centralized control room of the Power Plant to control the loading and operation of generating units and associated equipment. Observes operating parameters of equipment and assures that optimum operating conditions are maintained.
Primary Duties:
Acquires full knowledge and understanding of Control Operator job duties and relieves the Control Operator when required.
Monitors, operates and checks equipment.
Identifies abnormal equipment operations.
Takes corrective action and/or initiates requests for equipment repair.
Monitors, analyzes and performs boiler and cooling tower water chemistry tests.
Keeps logs, records data and verbally communicates plant conditions.
Utilizes SAP/PM system for equipment history and verification of work performed.
Performs plant and substation switching orders and executes clearance procedures.
Follows all safety and environmental rules and regulations
Assists in the training of others.
Repairs, inspects and maintains boiler and boiler auxiliaries, turbine/generator auxiliaries, also coal handling equipment and auxiliaries, if applicable.
Performs general craft tasks, operates various industrial equipment, and uses power hand tools.
Reads and interprets drawings and prints.
Works with other craft and plant personnel as required.
Continually seeks process improvement to save cost and increase efficiency.
Working Conditions:
May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on- call and call-outs.
May be required to work overtime and weekends and holidays.
May require travel.
May be required to lift fifty (50) pounds or more.
May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
May be required to cross-train in various crafts and Operations Departments at various times of the year.
Required Skills:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Three (3) years directly related experience or completion of OG&E apprentice program.
Experience in a related mechanical field (e.g., power plant, industrialized mechanical,
farm, etc.) or equivalent (e.g., vocational training in power plant operations).
Valid State Driver's License.
Preferred Skills:

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnosis problems, and resolve effectively.
Ability to understand and comply with company policies and operating procedures.
Ability to understand plant and equipment systems/processes.
Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment.
Ability to effectively use SAP/PM.
Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
Ability to use common purpose hand tools and other materials of various craft trades.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, following approved work methods and standard testing practices.
Computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite applications.
Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions and evolving business needs.
Knowledge of basic math.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, electric motors, air compressors, valves, welding, fabrication, construction, pipe fitting, etc.).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
