Perform ongoing database administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, tuning, installation, backup/recovery, and data migration of Oracle databases running on Solaris servers. Analyze and identify system improvement pertaining to performance, data processing procedures, and data replication. Plan and conduct major database architecture changes including data migration, database migration and integration. Design, test, implement, and maintain Oracle high availability solutions. Conduct proactive management of Production database systems and risks mitigation. Perform database tuning for optimal performance to meet SLAs. Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database security. Allocate storage and develop plans for future storage requirements. Work with other operations staff and engineers to ensure that production service is designed to be highly available and fault-tolerant, including configuring and maintaining a monitoring and alerting solution that will keep tabs on network, machines, and server applications. Participate in service capacity planning, vendor selection, deploying new systems. Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand business needs for data services and to create effective solutions. Document specifications and implementations, including the creation and documentation of policy to ensure high availability, security and responsiveness of database and related services. Co-ordinate with multiple development teams and multiple software vendors on issues resolution and capacity planning. Introduce innovations to the database architecture in areas such as semantic flexibility, quality of service, security, robustness, scalability, cost control and discovery.
Employer will accept Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field and followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
