DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is skilled work in performing a variety of tasks associated with orthopedic casting procedures under the instruction of a physician in a state hospital. Employee is responsible for the application and removal of a variety of casts and splints as directed by or in working with a physician. Duties include instructing patients in the process of the procedures, instructing patients to observe for secondary medical problems, and performing special procedures. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of a physician and is evaluated by satisfactory correction of orthopedic problems.
DUTIES
Applies and removes a variety of splints, wet plaster and fiberglass casts, and requests X-rays as indicated under the direction of a physician.
Performs special procedures as windowing and wedging, and assists the physician in complex special procedures as removal of pins and application of traction.
Positions patient for procedure and notes the degree of discomfort experienced by the patient. Also instructs patient in cast care, wound care, swelling, and how to remove and apply splints.
Responsible for inventory, ordering and receiving of all casting supplies and equipment.
Instructs and supervises medical students, interns, and first-year residents in the application and removal of casts.
SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of the techniques and methods used in applying casts and splints
Considerable knowledge of human anatomy and skeletal structure
Skill in the application of casting materials and splints
Ability to recognize secondary medical problems as decubitus ulcers, wound infection, chaffing, etc
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with orthopedic doctors and their patientsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
