Tasks
The Distribution Vegetation Management Lead is responsible for managing the line clearance distribution trim program and will manage internal/external requests. This position will work with contractor and municipalities to plan schedule and implement pruning and removal activities to meet standard specifications. This position will participate on project teams for maintenance programs or capital improvements, where necessary, for reliability and/or infrastructure improvements. The position will assist operations with tree trimming and tree removal necessary to secure proper tree to conductor clearances. The position will plan and implement the annual distribution circuit trim program and will monitor progress of contractor activities and adherence to specifications and take appropriate action to meet objectives. This position will prioritize and coordinate work with contractors, conduct routine field audits of contractor work and document results of program including permissions and ability to achieve the clearance specification and will ensure workload is managed to meet area goals, coordinate work assignments to meet set objectives, program is fully implemented and manage internal/external customer expectations. This position will work with contractor to obtain permission from property owner, municipalities and PURA and will ensure compliance with local ordinance for worker and public safety. This position will also present tree trimming topics to customers thru multiple communication media and will interpret internal/external customer and stakeholder needs; assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and opportunities. This position will provide guidance and consultation to other business areas on tree trimming resource requirements and will conduct face to face meetings with customers to educate and resolve customer inquiries. This position will provide support to company operations during storm and emergency events and will take action to remove vegetation conditions that may impact security, safety or reliability. This position will coordinate tree contractor crews in emergencies and during storm restoration, available 24/7 coverage as required and perform minor trimming and/or limb removal if it can be performed safely and cost-effectively. This position will participate in initiatives and assists in planning long term program goals, and continually improve upon process and work practices and will manage smaller scope projects that require internal and external resources (e.g. minor system patches, process enhancements).
Requirements
The Distribution Management Lead requires an Associate's Degree in Applied Science, Forestry, Business Management or related technical field from an accredited college/university plus 5 years of experience in utility vegetation management or related discipline. ISA certification is required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire. This position requires experience in supporting business operations, with direct experience in the related subject matter preferred. Additionally this position requires quantitative, qualitative and training skills with the ability to use tools such as spreadsheets or other technology based applications, written, verbal and meeting facilitation skills. Qualified candidates must demonstrated the ability to support business systems and resolve end-user issues and must be organized, collaborative, and have initiative. Familiarity with Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems or Utility Vegetation Management is preferred.
