Plant Design & Piping interns at Bechtel perform assignments that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. They review and design the placement of plant equipment, systems and piping to ensure optimal space utilization. PD&P interns have a world of career opportunities at Bechtel.
The total number of PD&P interns hired and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on project needs, and include Frederick, MD, Houston, TX and Reston, VA, among others.
General Job Duties
PD&P interns may be responsible for:
- Compiling, evaluating, correlating and analyzing data
- Design criteria documents & change packages
- Performing calculations and preliminary analysis to evaluate results
- Coordinating work with other technical personnel as directed
- Conducting computer aided design (CAD) & computer aided engineering (CAE)
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelors of Science degree program in engineering or related field from an accredited college or University
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in engineering or related field
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous co-op or internship experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong GPA
- Basic technical knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, construction materials, and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.
