Summary:
Responsible for the supervision and directing PPSO function that include advising, counseling, arranging for, preparing and distributing documentation for authorized personnel and family members on personal property shipments in accordance with DoD 4500.9-R, Part IV: Joint Federal Travel Regulation (JFTR); Joint Travel Regulation (JTR); and other service-specific governing regulations. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of task areas. Ensures compliance with requisite manpower, safety, fiscal and accountability guidance.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Direct all PPSO and travel operations.
Develop an understanding of customers' needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met.
Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements, to minimize negative impacts.
Protect and control proprietary materials.
Review transportation performance with customers against targets, benchmarks and service agreements.
Develop and implement technical project management tools such as plans, schedules, and responsibility, and compliance matrices and report progress/results.
Oversee operations of Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System (TOPS) and Defense Personal Property System (DPS).
Direct team activities, establishing task priorities, scheduling and tracking work assignments, providing guidance, and ensuring the availability of resources.
Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
Investigate accidents and injuries, and prepare reports of findings.
Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
Preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Working knowledge of the transportation AIS Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System TOPS.
Must have a thorough knowledge of transportation DOT regulation, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of the theory, principles and methods required to plan, track, and execute a transportation operation.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
Monitoring/Assessing performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Additional Position Information:
Associates Degree in Business or Management. Five (8) years' installation ITO operations and PPSO experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience as identified above.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
