POSITION
Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the safe and economical operation of a natural gas liquids pipelines, gas pipelines, and gas processing plants operated by MarkWest, and performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/
Responsibilities:
Assist in development of pipeline manuals for entire system
Assists in maintaining operational, maintenance, and repair files as required by DOT and corporate policies
Assists in coordinating pipeline and plant operations with Area Plant Manager and all third party facilities
Perform maintenance activities on mainline valves and ESD's
Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect chemical, oil or gas leaks, malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
Must be a good communicator - must interact with property owners along the pipeline system
Assist with the damage prevention program- call before you dig notices
Driving - required to drive off road in mountainous terrains required to operate 6 wheel and 4 wheel ATVs in mountainous terrains
Required to foot patrol pipeline right of ways (walking steep hills)
Occasionally may be required to fly with aerial survey pilot
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
Yes
Will be required to supervise contractors during various maintenance activities
JOB
Qualifications:
Current valid driver's license required. CDL license would be a plus
Should be computer literate - possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Must be familiar with API 1104 Welding Standard and welding procedures
Must have a good working knowledge of pipeline right of way maintenance
Procedures. Equipment Operator / backhoe, bulldozer / sideboom, excavator
Must have a working knowledge of pipeline corrosion control techniques Pipeline Technician C - must be self-motivated and work with little supervision

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and with flammable liquids. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, acidic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Materials and Equipment Used:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly use hand tools, computers, phone, fax, copier, map printer/plotter and analytical electronic devices, buried pipe line locators and operate a motor vehicle.
