The successful candidate will work with web-based applications that support an engineering design and test environment. As a member of the team, the Web Application and User Interface Designer will work with a database management team and their user community to assist in the development of web-based and intranet applications. The Individual must understand the business needs of the organization and maintain a customer-oriented approach at all times. Areas the Web Application and User Interface Designer will be responsible for will include:
Database Development and Administration (Oracle and MySQL)
Web Development (Programming and Web Graphic Design Skills)
Support and maintain web-based application interfaces and reporting
Design and construct interfaces amongst web applications to improve exchange and flow of data
Design, build, test and deploy self-service reporting environment for internal and external customers, incorporating industry best practices and tools.
Maintenance of existing data warehouse, exports, and reports
Develop new exports that meet provided specifications
Construct technical queries, reports and documentation from several database repositories
Perform quality checks on reports and exports to ensure exceptional quality
Provide user community the data required for metrics and analysis
User or Helpdesk Support
Provide ownership of database related problems, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem resolution
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Web Application and User Interface Design
- Understanding of the design, development, and testing of web-based, client and database applications
- Strong communication skills which are demonstrated through written and oral assignments
- Strong interpersonal skills to work directly with client, teammates, end-users, and other stakeholders to review, validate, and implement requirements
- Management of dynamic tasks; contributing to the planning, reporting, and communication of status
Knowledge of the following areas are a plus, but not required:
Java, Javascript, Java Server Pages (JSP), Oracle PL-SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, , C#
Linux OS
Experience in the design and modification of relationship database management systems (specifically Oracle and MYSQL)
Basic knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts and principles.
User Experience (UX) design and human-computer interaction
MS Office: Sharepoint, MS Access, MS Excel with advanced techniques in providing metrics
Mozilla Open Source Bugzilla and Testopia
