Job Description
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the transportation of materials in a safe and timely manner, while maintaining a positive company image. This position reports to the store manager or Terminal Manager
Position Accountabilities
1. Transports cylinders to assigned customers/branches in a timely and safety conscious manner. Stays within all posted speed limits and complies with all DOT and company safety policies and procedures.
2. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle. Maintains the vehicle in a clean and proper condition.
3. Legibly completes driver log/trip reports on a daily basis.
4. Responsible for accurate recording of cylinders/hardgoods transactions on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.
5. Maintains good communications with supervisor, especially regarding customer and operations issues.
6. Drives forklift truck as required.
7. Sets tone for employees by good example through observation of the company's Loss prevention policies and procedures. Reports accidents including near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and obeys safety rules.
Required Experience
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year road experience with no previous moving violations for three years. Must be at least 21 years of age with an excellent driving record. Must be in good physical condition and be able to roll 200
lb. cylinders and bend/lift 50+lb containers. Must present a positive Company image to the public as well as fellow employees. Must meet and maintain all DOT driving qualifications including CDL with hazardous material and air brake endorsements. Must be flexible with work hours. Must be able to read and write, and perform basic math functions. Prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and climbing. Capable of working in diverse and often unpleasant weather and working conditions.
