Yahoo currently has a Service Engineer, Senior position available at our office in Sunnyvale, CA. Duties: Work on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires in depth evaluation of various factors which may be difficult to define. Focus on the availability, performance, scalability & maintainability of Yahoos Production Applications & Services. Responsibilities include service support, which is the processes, standards and technology required to support Yahoo's services; and service delivery, which is the deploying, scaling, managing and measuring of all Yahoo Services. It includes engineers working on each tier of the tiered escalation model, Tools and Automation, systems architecture, System and Application monitoring, Build and Release, Configuration, Performance, Capacity Planning, Business Continuity Planning & Service Metric Reporting and Postmortem Analysis. Service Engineers partner with development, operations and business counterparts to guide the service architecture and influence projects and priorities to ensure success. Help build the next generation of analytics platform for Yahoo. Help build products and platforms that help all Yahoos develop, deploy, launch, measure and manage their services easily, quickly and efficiently. Drive platform operability, performance optimization, utilization and security. Work with a technical team to design and implement analytics products or platforms consistent with Yahoos technical principle. Engineer, design and develop extensible, scalable and reliable software. Interact with other teams to define interfaces, integration points as well as to understand upstream and downstream data processing and pipeline dependencies. Conduct performance review and tuning of data processing jobs running on Hadoop clusters. Support engineering and users in pilot and production environment for operability, performance and tuning tasks. Monitor usage of user, report, cloud, system and performance. Provide feedback/reports on system usage and potential bottlenecks. Provide ad-hoc technical support to the user community. Investigate, analyze, and evaluate new technologies and assess the necessity and viability of modifying Yahoo technical strategy.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field followed by a minimum of 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or a computer-related occupation.
Experience must include:
1. Knowledge Software Development, Build and Release Engineering, Performance Engineering, Site Operations.
2. Minimum 5 years of system engineering or systems administration experience.
3. Prior experience of at least 3 years supporting 24x7, highly-available, service-oriented, distributed production system (>500 systems) and participating in in on-call support rotation.
4. Experience in designing and building software within an agile development framework.
5. Linux operating systems and scripting.
6. Basic knowledge on databases and Data Warehouse technology.
7. TCP/IP networking, SMTP, HTTP, load-balancers, highly available network servers.
8. Strong experience developing automation scripts and tools in Perl and PHP.
9. Basic java technologies, and high level understanding of BI tools such as Microstrategy.
10. Strong operational knowledge of Hadoop clusters and associated frameworks like oozie.
11. Experience with various open-source technologies like Apache web services, MySQL.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
