Job Description
Provide analytical engineering and problem solving support for the Advanced Development team on new suspension technologies. Perform analytical engineering analysis from the vehicle level down to component utilizing a variety of CAE tools. These tools include spreadsheets and commercial software, ADAMS, CARSIM, ABACUS, and StarCD.
Develop physical models of new technology to understand performance of this technology prior to the development of prototypes, vehicle level and subsystem leveling modeling required
Develop tools to be utilized by the Engineering Applications team for production application
Analyze data and performance of designs, recommend actions
Gather information on new technologies, designs, solutions, and cost reduction ideas
Contribute engineering functions including development of FMEAs, DVPs, 8Ds, stress analysis, etc.
Identify opportunities for product and process standardization efforts, competitive analysis, and cost reductions (VA/VE)
Apply problem solving tools and development methods to enhance productivity and design quality (e.g., simulation, modeling, DOE, Six Sigma)
Follow New Technology Introduction process to ensure that new technologies are developed in a disciplined way such that these technologies are well documented and ready for production applications.
Expertise in the development of IP that provides value to the company.
Required Skills
Able to achieve Six Sigma Black Belt Certification within 2 years
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility to travel, as required, to support plants and customers
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
Ability to work independently
Required Experience
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years engineering work experience in a related field .
Experience writing custom Visual Basic macros in MS Excel.
Experience modeling vehicle dynamics behavior
Experience using Matlab/Simulink to model dynamic hydraulic and mechanical systems.
