Electronics Supplier Quality Engineer

The Supplier Quality Engineer of this expanding tier 1 automotive supplier will evaluate a variety of quality concerns, APQP and PPAP requirements, and communicate these with suppliers, internal teams and customers as required. The Supplier Quality engineer will be responsible for managing the quality of the supplied product from assigned suppliers to ensure that all company objectives are met. Will demonstrate the ability to perform proactive quality system assurance responsibilities and drive supplier development actions for purchased components that contribute to successful product launches and support existing production quality requirements. Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels. The primary scope of this position is the Electric/Electronic Assemblies but also electronic components
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strong working knowledge for Electronic assemblies processes and Electronic components
Lead the supplier APQP process .
Assess and facilitate APQP activities related to a new product development program and/or change management.
Good communications skills and ability to work with customers and co-workers are critical to the success in the position
Ability to work in a diverse team environment across a matrix organization.
Monitoring supplier performance and facilitate PDCA activities to ensure goals.
Perform process audits to TS16949 and VDA 6.3 and implement action plans as required.
Experience with PDCA, corrective actions, and 8Ds and other quality techniques to improve supplier related quality problems.
Develop incoming inspection requirements for vendor components.
Interpret blue prints, GD&T, and metrology reports for part accuracy and approval.
Review and approve Supplier ISIR's (PPAP's). Responsibility of releasing vendor parts.
Provide key support and leadership with supplier product/process qualifications, and work with R&D to determine supplier requirements for new products.
Comply with all TS16949 policies and procedures
Domestic and International Travel to be up to 35%.
Demonstrate the ability to use SPC to control supplier quality when applicable.
