Gerdau is seeking a Production Supervisor (Day Shift) for its rebar fabrication facility in Plant City, FL.

Basic Function:
Supervise and coordinate workforce engaged in bar shop fabricating operations involving warehousing, material handling, shearing, bending and loading of reinforcing steel.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining scheduled production; meeting production goals and objectives.
Production of prescribed quality of product.
Optimum material use through scrap minimization and remnant control.
Proper, efficient and effective work methods.
Proper operation and utilization of equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair.
Maintain coordinated efficiency of operations with other supervisors, departments and services.
Selecting and training of employees.
Turnover and attendance control.
Resolving employee grievances.
Administering personnel policies and discipline.
Proper housekeeping of shop.
Carrying out company policy and programs.
Safe and efficient operation of the shop.
Other duties as business needs dictate.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
2 - 5 years of supervisory experience in a similar fabrication, manufacturing, industrial or construction environment. Steel / rebar experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with PowerPoint, SAP and aSa preferred. Exposure to CAD helpful.
Mechanical/Maintenance aptitude preferred.
Understanding with Lean Manufacturing techniques, 5S, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement tools helpful.
Typically working Monday through Friday during the day. Must also be able to work Saturdays during the summer and as business needs dictate.
Position requires prolonged work in non-heated or air conditioned environment.
