Description :
Deputy Project Manager, in support of the Operations Group, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at FORT Polk LA. Must be a Prior infantry battalion commander, MEL 4 with JRTC experience
This is a contingent position.
JRTC, Fort Polk Deputy Project Manager is responsible for the execution of the Live, Virtual, Constructive and Gaming - Integrated Training Environment Planning,Training, Operations and Maintenance associated with the JRTC, Fort Polk, LA.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Deputy Project Manager is the Contractor's on-sight contract manager and authorized interface with the Government COR and Government management personnel. The Deputy Project Manager position in support of the US Army JRTC at Fort Polk, LA shall participate in team, technical, and working group meetings as required; formulate and enforcing work standards, assigning contractor tasking and schedules, reviewing work discrepancies, supervise all contractor personnel to include subcontractor personnel and communicate the policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to subordinates. The DPM shall be responsible for the overall contract performance; be responsible for the command, control, and supervision of the staff; provides management oversight, meeting financial goals and obligations, participates in the planning process, and recommends solutions.
The Mission of the JRTC is to conduct tough, realistic multi echelon joint and combined arms training to train leaders to deal with complex situations; to create flexible, skilled Soldiers; and to develop highly proficient, cohesive units capable of conducting operations across the full spectrum of military conflict. The JRTC executes 12-14 training rotations per year during which typical Operational Tempo requires 24/7 mission support of this Program Manager and his/her team.
Particular emphasis is placed on the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to a diverse customer base of military and government civilian personnel. Leadership ability is of particular importance due to the challenging conditions of the JRTC environment and the diverse nature of the workforce.
The operation is broad in scope and involves the management of over 900 CACI and subcontract employees in:
Operations Management (Commercial and Military Training)
Integration of Project and Systems Engineering Management
Maintenance Management
Logistics Management
Automated Information System Operations
Configuration Management
Quality Control
Training Analysis and Development
Safety Program Development and Execution
Required Skills:
Retired U.S. Army Infantry 0-5 or above with extensive and recent (last five years) experience with Light Infantry/Airborne/Air Assault formations at battalion and BCT level and above
Former Observer Controller at JRTC
Recent combat experience as commander of battalion infantry/BCT formation
Experience in managing organizations of 500 people or more in size
Participation in Joint Readiness Training Center Rotation as a member of the RTU.
Current in-depth knowledge and understanding of Army and Joint doctrine as well as training management; knowledge of evolving Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) as well as understanding of current and evolving Threat doctrine; understanding of Army Decisive Action missions
Required Education:
MEL 4 - Command and General Staff College or equivalent graduate
Master's degree
Desired Education
Program Manager certification or must be able to complete PM cert within 6 month timeframe; in lieu of certification, must have PM experience of large, complex program with an in depth knowledge of contracting, budget, and federal regulatory guidelines
Must possess a current US SECRET clearance

Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 16 or more years of experience, including three to five years of supervisory/management experience.
