The Engineering Technician II will play a key role in developing and implementing processes for the casting of medical device components. The successful candidate will participate on cross-functional teams concentrating on the improvement of existing products and processes along with the launch of new products. This will include working with the Lean and Product Development teams, CIP teams and the Quality group for the successful qualification of the product and process for improved manufacturability. This candidate will work with other manufacturing, process and quality engineers to develop new technology and processes ensuring compliance with approved methods and quality standards.
The successful candidate will provide support to Foundry operations and ensure that foundry processes are being followed in accordance to specifications. The Engineering Technician II must be able to work safely in both lab and operation settings. This position would also require interaction with outside vendors and suppliers on a frequent basis. The person must be able to work in a team environment and travel when necessary. The candidate will give support to the Foundry Production Cell to ensure compliance with all FDA, ISO, quality, safety and environmental regulations and initiatives and lead or assist with projects. The candidate's duties and responsibilities will be to create and maintain all raw material and process specifications, perform slurry based testing both in the shell room and the foundry lab, assist operations due to process or environmental concerns, along with assisting Manufacturing and Process Engineering in Metallurgical mounting and validation of existing and new products resulting in process changes.
The Engineering Technician II will also help with process and product improvement programs for cycle time, cost reduction, yield, safety and quality improvement. Quality and process improvements will be driven by effectively utilizing Process Excellence tools to improve operations in the Foundry. The ideal candidate will assist in developing manufacturing specifications, bills, routes and travelers in support of new and existing products. The candidate must be able to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues, develop and implement detailed project plans, support cost improvement programs and be able to apply engineering and quality principles in support of manufacturing. The candidate will also possess the ability to read, interpret, and utilize engineering drawings and electronic data for product and process development.
Qualifications
A minimum of an Associate's Degree or equivalent or a Technical Degree is required, preferably in a Chemical or Engineering related discipline. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred. Must have a minimum of two years of related experience. A minimum of one year experience in manufacturing or engineering is required.
Foundry engineering experience in Investment Casting strongly preferred. Knowledge of process validations, process mapping and Lean Six Sigma tools are preferred assets. GD&T; and process excellence preferred. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in MS Office is required. A medical device or other regulated work environment background preferred. The position is located in Raynham, MA and it is required for the candidate to possess the ability to travel up to 10%.
