Scenario Development Writers , in support of the Operations Group, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at FORT Polk LA.
Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) rotations are based on a collaborative exercise scenario involving joint strategic deployment and contingency operations based on an approved threat model and adhere to joint, combined, coalition, and/or service doctrine. Currently the model involves a Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE), but could also involve a Mission Rehearsal Exercise (MRE) or other scenario as recommended by the Rotational Unit Leadership and approved by the Chief, G3/5/7. These scenarios are modified as required to meet the changing operational environment of contingency/emerging threats, improved force capabilities, or mission rehearsal exercise requirements for each rotation.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Scenario Development Writers operate under the supervision of the Chief, Scenario Development, in coordination with the Chief, G3/5/7 and develop joint strategic deployment and contingency scenarios with supporting tactical and exercise control/support documents (FRAGO's, OPORD's, Execution Checklists, Master Scenario Events List (MSEL), etc.) to facilitate live, virtual, and constructive rotational training at the Joint Readiness Training Center.
Scenario Development Writers will develop and support up to three (3) distinct scenarios simultaneously; a Standard Rotational Exercise (the current model is a Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE)), a Mission Rehearsal Exercise (MRE), and a Future Scenario to be specified by the Chief G3/5/7. CPX scenario events (with supporting documents; FRAGO's, Operation Orders, tasking) will be incorporated into the exercise for all War-Fighting Functions (WFF) and tailored to meet mission training requirements of participating units (Army, FORSCOM, USARPAC, USASOC, JSOC, USAR, NGB, USMC Air, NAVAL SOF, Naval Air, and USAF Air Mobility (AMC), and Air Combat Command (ACC) forces.
Scenario products will address all aspects of rotational events including live fire, constructive simulations, and Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) training.
Required Qualifications:
Former Maneuver Brigade Operations/Plans Officer with experience at the Joint Staff, Unified Command Staff, or Joint Task Force Level as a Operations or Plans Officer.
Functional Area 54 designee with 10 years experience in the planning or operations field
Recent combat experience (within the last five years) with Light Infantry/Airborne/Air Assault formations at battalion and BCT level and above.
Experience with Unified Land Operations doctrine, unit Mission Essential Task List (METL), Joint, Interagency, intergovernmental, multinational (JIIM), and Service operations and plans doctrine.
Participation in Joint Readiness Training Center Rotation as a member of the RTU.
Current in-depth knowledge and understanding of current Combined, Joint and Army Doctrine, Training Management; knowledge of evolving Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) as well as understanding of current and evolving Threat doctrine; understanding of Army Decisive Action missions.
Ability to coordinate and synchronized efforts across all levels and types of commands including combined, joint, service, and the interagency.
Strong briefing, speaking, and staff skills for preparation and presentation of products to senior leadership on a routine basis. Expert in MS Office products.
Extremely organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously, coordinate actions, and meet suspense's as required by the rotational schedule and exercise milestones.
Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements as directed by the customer.
MEL IV, Command and General Staff College Graduate. - Must possess a current US SECRET clearance.

Joint Task Force Operations/Plans Officer
Joint Specialty Officer (JSO) Qualified
Joint Interagency Support Team Operations/Plans Officer
Bachelors Degree in related or supporting field
