About the Position:
The Garrison Adelphi Laboratory Center serves the Soldier and collaborates with Army science and research by providing excellent lab facilities and support services. The Garrison provides a professional work environment with the opportunity to directly impact the surrounding civilian community. This position will be filled at either the GS-09 level, the GS-11 level or the GS-12 level at management's discretion.

You will serve as a Conservation Specialist for the U. S. Army Garrison Adelphi Laboratory Center (ALC), including the Blossom Point Research Facility (BPRF). Applies professional, technical and administrative knowledge in planning, developing, initiating and executing a full range of activities pertaining to natural and cultural resources conservation and management, pest management and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) coordination. The incumbent serves as subject matter expert and technical advisor to Garrison Manager, Director of Public Works, Environmental Division supervisor, Directorate of Public Works staff, and other members of ALC. Manages the ALC natural resources, cultural resources, pest management and NEPA programs in accordance with Federal and State laws and DOD and Army regulations, directives and policies. Natural resources programs areas include forestry, fish & wildlife, wetlands, threatened and endangered species, rare plants, invasive species, protection of soil and water resources, and resource inventory and mapping.

Basic Requirement:
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position
OR
Combination of Education and
Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in degree information, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Specialized Experience Required: In addition to meeting the positive education requirement for this position described above, applicants must meet the specialized experience described below:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the next lower grade level which prepared you to do the work in this job.
To qualify at the GS-09 Grade Level: Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is defined as: the knowledge, skills and ability to independently perform recurring, well-precedence duties associated with wildlife, soil science, cultural resources and other conservation projects.
To qualify at the GS-11 Grade Level: Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting in the planning, and executing of a full range of natural and cultural resource program elements to include forestry, landscaping, soil conservation & land use, fish & wildlife, and other conservation projects.
To qualify at the GS-12 Grade Level: Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is that which equips you with the knowledge, skills and ability to plan and execute a full range of natural and cultural resource program elements to include, but not limited to 1) experience managing natural and cultural resource programs; 2) experience providing documentation and administrative knowledge pertaining to activities on natural and cultural resources conservation and management programs; 3) experience communicating/promoting understanding of natural and cultural resource functions to management.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Knowledge of Natural Resource Program Management
Knowledge of Cultural Resource Program Management
Knowledge of Pest Management Program Management
Ability to Communicate Effectively

GS-09 Education Substitution: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or Master's equivalent degree.
GS-11 Education Substitution: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree.
For the GS-12 Grade Level there is no education substitution.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
