Responsible for working closely with all Deli associates in an effort to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed, department goals and objectives are being obtained, and associates' needs are being met. Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing all aspects of Deli department operations, to include but not limited to: labor, accurate pricing, stock levels, merchandising, and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Leads, coaches, teaches, and reinforces Festival culture, customer service, and performance expectations to all Deli associates.
Maintains adequate staff levels by interviewing applicants and extending job offers to qualified candidates
Ensures team gets proper training
Finalizes and approves weekly work schedule for Deli associates
Documents violations of company policies/procedures by Deli associates and conducts appropriate corrective action, up to and including termination
Answers questions and provides guidance to all Deli department associates
Implements new standards and store policies
Conducts Huddle Ups for all deli employees stating new policies or things needed to be worked on
Prepares coaching sessions, performance reviews, event notes, training checklists, and store sales
Checks email three times daily, looking for important items
2) Ensures all department standards are being met in the Deli department
Observes the sales floor and back stock conditions; takes corrective action to correct areas of opportunity
Places an order for items needed
Maintains appropriate inventory levels and ensures accurate pricing on products received and sold
Communicates and works cooperatively with Store Director, Deli Director, other Department Managers and Deli associates to maintain standards and exceed guest expectations
3) Oversees all aspects of the department and that they are running smoothly
Fulfill special orders, or delegate an employee to execute them
Ensures correct signage is represented throughout the department
Makes sure entire department is faced and full at all times, containing no holes
Ensures cleanliness of entire Deli department
4) Provides customer service to guests
Assists guests with finding items that they are looking for on and off the sales floor
Takes orders and other special requests
Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette
Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service or product received
5) Assists all Deli associates with daily responsibilities while leading by example.
6) Develops Assistant Manager and/or Department Leads to prepare for advancement opportunities and maintains the standards of the department.
7) Contributes to the overall cleanliness of the department by picking up, organizing, and cleaning work areas, shelving, and sales floor as needed.
8) Responsible for the department's timekeeping accuracy. Communicate to HR regarding any missing time, transferred hours, and schedule issues.
9) Required to maintain food safety logs and verification and compliance of Department food safety logs.
10) Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.

High School Education or equivalent combination of education and experience
Understands being in a leadership role and how to motivate a team of individuals
Must possess great oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of technology and the use of a computer
Thorough knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel
Knowledge and understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies
Must possess the ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises. Also requires proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: Hand jack, slicers, baler, trash compactor, fryer, oven, grinders, mixers, blaster, chiller, and cook and holds.
Must have WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will pay in order to get certified if not)

Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
Full range of upper body motion
Lifting up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
May be exposed to extreme temperatures
WORK SCHEDULE
The Deli Manager is a full time salary position scheduled 45 or more hours per week. The typical shift to be worked will be 7am-5pm, including weekends, weekdays, and holidays (time of shift is subject to change based on needs of each store). The Deli Manager is also required to work one night a week, and one late night per month.
