Job Objective / Mission:
To manage the deployment of all Velocix products and services to customers, in partnership with the local Alcatel-Lucent account team, the customer project manager and Velocix's Pre-Sales consultant.
To manage the successful on-time and on-budget build, installation and integration of CDN functionality within customer networks.
To effectively lead a small technical team for each customer deployment project.
Initially to work with one major customer in deploying their requirements.
To provide co-ordination, leadership and direction for NAR Velocix Operations personnel
Main
Responsibilities:
Provide support for Pre-Sales activities regarding implementation projects and input for trial and live deployment proposals.
Liaise with Velocix Pre-Sales consultants to initiate new trial and live deployments and to transfer project responsibility to Operations.
Collation of deployment details and pre-requisite information, with Alcatel-Lucent account team and customer.
Manage customer trial deployments (build and lab test, installation, configuration and support for customer testing).
Manage live customer deployment projects (build, installation, configuration, customisation, acceptance test and handover to support).
Manage additional client deliveries as required (e.g. upgrades, migration, custom functionality or reporting).
Hold regular progress reviews for each project with the customer and Alcatel-Lucent project managers.
Follow-up and ensure closure of outstanding project and technical actions.
Provide management co-ordination, leadership and direction for NAR Velocix Operations personnel
Produce regular progress reports for the project team and Delivery Director.
Minimises exposure and risk across multiple projects.
Manages scope and mitigates risk across projects.
Liaise with Velocix Pre-Sales consultants to document new feature requests from customers.
Create and maintain project documentation e.g. project plans, Action Item Register (AIR).
Provide informal education on CDN operation for Alcatel-Lucent and customer staff.
Ensure that best-practices are followed for all deployment projects.
Demonstrate a key leadership role in project management and use own initiative, while paying close attention to detail.
Demonstrate a pro-active, trouble-shooting approach to deployments and associated customer management.
Grows long-term relationships with customers
## Qualifications
Key attributes:
Demonstrated experience in a Senior Project Management/Program Management position, ideally in an ISP or network equipment supplier.
Demonstrated experience in remote, matrix management of internal and external personnel
Methodological, consistent approach - especially under pressure.
Takes the initiative to ensure actions are completed and deadlines are met.
Self-motivated and capable of managing a cross-functional team.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Practical, accurate and precise.
Ability to build excellent working relationships with external and internal customers.
Ability to prioritise tasks and projects in-line with business requirements.
Competencies:
Essential:
Experienced project/program manager.
Good knowledge of project management tools and methods.
Good knowledge of enterprise-class IP infrastructure - routers/switches/firewalls.
Experience of web-based services.
Highly computer literate.
Confident in MS Office applications (particularly Outlook, Excel and Project).
Desirable:
Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks.
Experience of managing international IP infrastructure deployments.
Knowledge of networking equipment administration.
Experienced matrix manager comfortable with management of cross-functional team
