Position Summary
Operate PSLS washing machines including loading linens and selecting appropriate wash formulas. Unloads washers and loads clean linen into PSLS dryer or places flatwork in line for flatwork finishing. This is a safety sensitive position.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to
Load and operate washer extractors and dryers including setting correct formulas and drying temperatures
Transfer dryer goods to appropriate folding/pressing area
Be aware of any safety problems and pass them on to Stationary Engineer or Laundry manager
Report unusual occurrences (machinery noises, etc.) to Floor Supervisor or Stationary Engineer
Great attention to detail
Maintain housekeeping and safety standards including wearing protective clothing (gloves, barrier gowns, etc.)
Remove any foreign objects detected during loading from linen before inserting in washers
Maintain a healthy, safe and efficient work environment
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required
Experience & Education
Previous commercial laundry experience preferred.
Previous Blood borne Pathogens training experience
Skills & Abilities
Capable of learning the numerous formulas and drying times and temperatures which apply to each linen items being processed
Able to kneel, bend, stoop, and lift loads up to 50lbs. at frequent intervals
Must have excellent manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination
Must be alert by sight, touch, and hearing
Able and willing to wear protective clothing and gloves as required by Universal Precautions Manual
Able to push/pull moderately heavy slings of soiled and clean linen (up to 400lbs.) and moderately heavy mobile carts of up to 600lbs. for short distances
Load and operate washer & dryer including setting correct formulas and drying temperatures
Supervision Received
Direct supervision received; employee is able to handle routine functions, butneeds regular guidance from the supervisor for most duties.
Physical Demands
Steady pace of work; volume depends on current contract, but work must be completed within the contract time frame.
Wear protective clothing and gloves as required by Universal Precautions Manual
Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for hanging flatwork
Lift and carry up to 25lbs. forward and overhead on a consistent basis
Operate all pressing machines in pressing area
Pull/push bins weighing up to 100lbs.
Stand for up to eight (8) hours
Exposure to chemicals and fumes
Potential exposure to OSHA Blood/Body Fluids (BBF)
Part-time schedule with the ability to work an unexpected schedule
