Job Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
Prepare GAAP financial statements for 2 companies and a Statutory financial statement for 1 insurance company. This excludes preparing tax entries, this will be done by the tax accountant.
Prepare investment reporting monthly. The sub-ledger detail is maintained by someone else, this position prepares and posts entries to the general ledger based on reports prepared from the sub-ledger.
Prepare quarterly board reports.
Prepare audit work papers for interim work and annual work.
Assist in preparing the audit report for 2 companies. This includes GAAP and Statutory footnotes.
Assist in preparing parts of regulatory filings for insurance companies to various state department of insurance and the NAIC.
Reconciling an accounts receivable sub ledger maintained on a mainframe system to the general ledger software.
Various cash and balance sheet reconciliations
Consolidate 3 companies for consolidated financial statements.
Prepare a simple commission report on a monthly basis.
Various other projects as needed.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in accounting with a CPA or currently qualified to sit for the CPA exam.

years of general ledger experience including reconciling all balance sheet type accounts to statements and sub ledgers, analyzing income and expense accounts for variances on a monthly basis, and preparing and posting monthly journal entries
Efficient in preparing financial reports including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flow and statement of stockholder's equity.
Understanding of consolidating multiple companies for financial reporting.
Understanding of composing footnotes to audit reports.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
