SQL SERVER DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
The position involves utilizing highly advanced technical capabilities in conjunction with excellent communication/networking skills to assist with the design and implementation of effective solutions.
The position holder will be an innovative team player with excellent interpersonal skills. He/she should analyze issues logically and methodically and have strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Clustering and breaking apart SQL Databases
Designs database backup and recovery strategies
Creates and enhances schemas
Create and maintain SQL Server objects
Manages deployments of database objects and structure changes to various environments
Designs disk configurations for databases
Provides database server configurations and minimum server requirements
Manages database projects for SQL Server platform upgrades and patches
Manages installations and configurations of database platforms
Performs code reviews of SQL
Keeps abreast of new technologies and suggests their application to systems where appropriate
Design, review, and implement physical database architecture and data models to ensure acceptable performance and availability
Evaluate emerging technologies in the database and related areas in order to identify opportunities for cost savings and/or profit maximization
Proactively monitor events in database servers to minimize service downtime and suggest ways to improve service uptime
Troubleshoot and investigate database issues and problems
Create and/or improve processes, procedures, and systems to better maintain database servers and enhance service quality
Required Skills:
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
Possesses excellent troubleshooting skills
Strong SQL knowledge
Experience extracting, transforming, and loading data to a standardized infrastructure using integration tools like SSIS
Ability to carry out assigned tasks independently and meet deadlines
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Thorough knowledge of Transactional SQL (T-SQL), PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Indexes, and tools for SQL Server 2000/2008/2012
Expert in database architecture, design, and performance tuning
Proficient knowledge in Windows operating systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, client relation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a technical team environment
