Job Summary
Responsible for identifying gaps in Sensient Natural Ingredients technical capabilities and identifying opportunities for development of commanding commercial positions through technology development, partnership with companies with unique and compatible products or technologies, and through new product development. As a member of the Natural Ingredients senior management team will contribute to overall strategy setting, including plans to exploit the technical opportunities identified and will work with colleagues to execute. To accomplish this, thorough understanding of the trends within the food industry is needed to generate new products that will establish and sustain Sensient Natural Ingredients in a leading market position. Experience and knowledge in the technical and scientific areas of the food industry will allow incumbent to fully contribute to the overall direction of both the Natural Ingredients business as it exists today and to grow the business with new product offerings and in the US and internationally.
Responsibilities
Lead, develop and implement long-range business strategies with the division GM to meet the divisions short-term and long-term growth ambition.
Identify new technologies necessary to enhance Sensients position and grow as a leader in the Natural Foods industry and source these technologies that will enable growth.
Direct, develop, and manage the Natural Ingredients research programs to insure the integration with overall strategic business plans through new value added products development.
Position will be responsible for overall division Quality Control & Assurance Departments.
Interact with academia and other outside bodies to keep current on technology changes that could impact the business.
Identify technologies and/or ingredients to maintain compliance with changing regulatory requirements.
Assist with the identification, selection and feasibility analysis of suppliers who have the technology capabilities to assist/subsidize company capabilities in new product production.
Liaise with other departments to provide value added product opportunities that build strategic alliances with other organizations and leverages customer relationships to bring new products to market for other organizations that do not have established customer relationships.
Assist with finding alternate technical processes and ingredient system solutions for improved supply chain cost, quality and delivery.
Create alliances and partnerships with universities to strengthen technical (i.e. food, industrial microbiology, etc.) capabilities and resources.
Work with academia to develop robust co-op/ intern programs with local colleges.
Communicate research progress and technology trends to business groups on a regular basis through professional presentations, publications, and/or written and oral reports.
Develop competent processes with new technologies and process improvements on existing technologies.
Maintain open communications throughout all levels within the organization.
Represent the company in various food industry and professional organizations.
Lead, guide, direct and maintain intellectual property initiatives and policies relating to internal and external processes, and communicate capabilities throughout the organization.
Prepare and attain budgets while conducting business activities in accordance with approved corporate guidelines.
May perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have a thorough knowledge of the food industry. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. Effective organizational and collaboration skills are required. Requires BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field. Advance degree (MS or PhD) preferred. Minimum fifteen (15) years experience in the food industry to include product development, process development, flavor development, and sensory evaluation. Must be able to lead change within the organization.

The Sensient Natural Ingredients group is part of Sensient Flavors & Fragrances Group and is one of the largest producers and distributors of dehydrated onion and garlic products as well as chili powder, paprika, chili pepper and dehydrated vegetables such as parsley, celery and spinach. These ingredients are used in many of today's popular convenience foods. This postion will be located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
REQNUMBER: 1870-1AC1Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
