Hyundai KIA America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is looking for a Telematics Validation Engineer for our Superior Township, MI facility:
Responsible in assisting with the development of a North America telematics system by leading the system validation efforts. This will include creating validation procedures, conducting bench and field validation and tracking development progress.
Responsible for the implementation and evaluation of a North America Telematics system for all Hyundai and /or Kia vehicles. This will include conducting studies/clinics, evaluating competitive systems, revising / creating specifications and troubleshooting the vehicle sub-system interactions.
Responsible for investigating off-board navigation and LBS applications.
Responsible for application development and validation. Must have experience with API's, SDK's, APK's.
Experience with implementing wireless communications related to CDMA, GSM and LTE.
Experience with vehicle product development process (concept to launch).
Participate and/or conduct design reviews that include requirements development, system/component specifications, analysis/modeling, design, verification and validation.
Remain current with new technology and competitive products as a means to drive new innovative features and functions.
Remain current with regulatory requirements (local, State, Federal) for telematics, hands-free communications, VII, DSRC and other infotainment applications. Includes FMVSS and CMVSS regulations and pending changes.
Remain current and/or participate in organizations and standards development (i.e. SAE, VII, Telematics Update, etc).
Participate in company sponsored activities in university research and development.
Provide progress reports during entire product development process.
Submit feature and cost reduction ideas to make systems more affordable, profitable and desirable.
Knowledge of feature set vs. cost when evaluating integration and partitioning studies for future systems.
Experience with developing, completing and evaluating FMEA's and DV/PV plans.
Work with the design studio, manufacturing and other relative groups within Hyundai/Kia.
Work with the supply base to answer questions pertaining to requirements, specifications, performance data and defect analysis.
Travel 10% internationally and domestically
Required
Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
5 years experience designing and developing automotive electrical components and systems with a focus on multimedia and infotainment.
5 years of experience in developing specifications and design verification test plans pertaining to multimedia and infotainment with an emphasis on telematics.
3 years experience in telematics hardware and software design.
3 years experience in voice recognition systems; including TTS.
Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
