THIS POSITION IS RESTRICTED TO CURRENT MILITARY MEMBERS OF THE IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Reviews print requests to determine delivery date, type of paper stock, color, and image position. Ensure material required is available, or on order. Prioritizes print orders to meet deadlines. Operates a computer workstation to receive and convert job order data into formats suitable for production runs on and electronic duplicating system. Scans hard copies and determines page sequencing and special set-up requirements to select duplicating system setting and appropriate equipment for the job. Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of printing equipment and operations to resolve problems, answer questions, and assist in on-the-job (OJT) training of production personnel. Serves as a senior on-supervisory production worker for the electronic duplicating system. provides printing instructions and/or written procedures to other production workers. Ensures safety and housekeeping rules are followed. Enforces OSHA and operating safety standards, especially use of safety equipment. Maintains equipment in peak operating condition by managing system resources. Orders, tracks, and maintain inventory on all needed print shop supplies. Ensures all print shop equipment is operational. Tracks all impressions and cost associated with the print shop for required NGB print reports. Manages system resources. Maintains the electronic file library. Creates and maintains customer and user accounts. Provides printing instructions to other production works, assigns tasks, and answers questions and reviews work of lower graded employees. Performs other duties as assigned. PD D1598

1. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of basic composition principles and finishing techniques.
2. Experience which demonstrates knowledge and skill of electronic duplicating system with network and media conversion capabilities.
3. Experience which demonstrates knowledge and skill of set-up, adjustment, and operating procedures for automatically controlled duplicator to reproduce multiple copies from hard copy originals and digital files.
4. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of printing, duplicating and related terminology and traditional printing and duplicating processes in order to enhance the quality of page images, including photographs.
Substitution of Education for specialized experience - Completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions. If education is being substituted for specialized experience, a college transcript must accompany the application or resume.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A pre-employment physical or medical screening may be required for placement to this position.
Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT) program as a condition of employment.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a security clearance as required by the position. Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at the PEC for new FTS personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.
Note: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowance may not be authorized for this position. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Government.
