Position Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Safely operate a petroleum products terminal and transmix unit to process feedstock of transmix into finished gasoline and fuel oil meeting target specifications. Perform all work in accordance with policy, procedure and safety requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the environment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Control the transmix distillation system operation.
- Monitor temperatures, pressures and flows of petroleum transmix and finished products.
- Sample and test petroleum products to determine properties against specifications and known standards.
- Coordinate and receive pipeline, rail, barge and truck receipts and deliveries to and from tanks.
- Effect transfers of transmix and finished products among tanks and to and from the transmix processing unit.
- Conduct terminal operations including inspection and monitoring of tanks, piping and valves; product sampling and testing; product inventory measurement and documentation; regulatory record keeping; maintaining facility security including monitoring contractor work on site; and assisting customers as required.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
- Prior work experience.
- Basic office and/or administrative experience including handling phones, completing paperwork and typing.
- Personal computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company, and maintain insurability by company carrier.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- TSA - Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) at terminals where required.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to pass and maintain all applicable testing, training /certification requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to do basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply & divide)
- Self-motivated and highly responsible with high situational awareness and regard for safety.
- Read and understand written material (in English).
- Clearly communicate orally (face to face and by telephone) and in writing in English.
- Ability to accept direction from supervisors and work cooperatively with people.
- Ability to keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, adhere to operational procedures and follow work rules.
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision or direction.
- Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional demeanor and behavior with peers, clients, customers and representatives of various local, state and federal agencies.
- Hands on maintenance experience, knowledge of and ability to use hand tools, and understand various maintenance and general operating principles and skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work rotating shifts, either 12 or 8 hour (including holidays and weekends).
- Work alone (unsupervised).
- Ability to perform physical labor in a variety of outdoor climactic conditions including walking, bending, stooping, climbing tank stairs, ladders and platforms, digging, manipulating valves, lifting minimum 50 lbs and general manual labor.
- Overtime required and extended work hours in instances of emergencies.
- Ability to work around refined petroleum products.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Field environment - petroleum terminal facility with rail, pipeline, marine, truck, distillation unit, laboratory and related activities.
- Indoor office work at all hours of the day.
- Outdoor activities including manual labor, at all hours of the day in all weather conditions.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
- Technical school or Associate Degree
- Experience in hydrocarbon terminal and processing unit operations; knowledge of piping, valves and pressures.
- Experience with storage tank operations, including inspections, alarms and sampling.
- Hazwoper, USCG (Person in Charge).
- Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting (mechanical, electric, electronic)

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
