Position Description:
Quarry Superintendent needed for concrete and aggregate producer with annual production of approximately 450,000 tons.
Responsibilities:
Supervises Production Supervisors. Sets quarry/plant operating goals and objectives based upon guidelines established by senior level management. Communicates vision and provides direction. Provides continuous, constructive feedback to direct reports and identifies development opportunities.
Responds to and maintains positive employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation and morale. Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals which arise out of or affect work situations. Motivates employees to highest potential and builds effective teams. Promotes positive and cooperative attitudes to ensure company and customer satisfaction.
Through subordinates, assures the accuracy of customer orders and timeliness of delivery.
Provides excellent customer service to employees, internal support functions, external customers and vendors. Exceeds both internal and external customer expectations of services.
Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards within production area. Monitors work performed and addresses situations that do not conform to standards.
Assures quarry's production levels are maintained safely to schedule. Closely monitors all areas of production to ensure that extraction and processing work is carried out to the highest standard. Assists staff on site in responding to any technical or staffing issues that arise. Alters production in accordance with materials required. Manages the production process by setting and monitoring performance targets. Manages and regulates the Quarry budget. Provides information and statistics on performance to General Manager and other senior managers as requested. Maintains up-to-date records to include inventory, inspection systems and checklists, and financials.
Keeps abreast of key government health, safety and environmental regulations, assures that they are implemented throughout the Quarry. Conducts regular site inspections to assure compliance.
Assesses equipment, orders new materials as required, coordinates with internal and external maintenance to address plant and equipment readiness, assures that all vehicles on site are maintained to a good standard.
Works with direct reports to establish development plans. Provides coaching and continuous, constructive feedback and general work direction. Conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews in accordance with Company policies. Issues corrective action as necessary. Participates in succession planning. Provides training and development opportunities for staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Minerals Engineering, Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Geology/Mining Geology, Mining Engineering/Technology or related discipline.
Experience in risk assessment, supervising safety in quarries, quarry safety inspections and quarry regulations helpful.
Strong level of technical understanding of quarrying environments and extraction systems.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with people at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated supervisory and management skills.
Willingness to work in inclement weather in often dirty or noisy environments.
Basic PC skills using Microsoft Office applications.
Position may require ability to move from quarry to quarry.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
