Responsibilities: Responsible for writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs which are used to service user needs (internal departments). This includes reviewing user request submissions (and working with users to ensure all specs are clarified), researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software applications throughout the production life cycle. This position will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate manner, and provide status reports where/when required. Primary Duties:
Develop and assist in the design and conceptualizing of new software programs and applications.
Research and document requirements for new programs or system modifications.
Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
Provide critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
Provide updates and communicate progress on programming projects using Request Tracker.
Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
Install software products for end users as required.
Develop programs and scripts adhering to departmental standards and procedures.
Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages that are used or applicable to S&S; programming environment.
Recommend and perform software improvements and upgrades that grow revenue and reduce operating costs.
Become knowledgeable to support on call duties for problems on second shift or emergencies, as well as verify system operation logs for successful completion of overnight processing jobs.
Qualifications: College degree with emphasis in computer science, or equivalent. 2
years programming experience required in a relational database environment 2
years business experience with Informix, Genero required (PHP experience preferred) Business experience with understanding how technology can be used to make improvements Prior experience in a manufacturing / distribution environment Analytical and detail oriented Good diagnostic skills and ability to identify and quantity problems Creative problem solver Good listening skills Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to relate and communicate effectively with users who may have limited computer knowledge Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn Able to work effectively as a team member Good or corrected vision Key Measurements: Meets or exceeds deadlines Good track record of problem resolution Limited defects in programming code handed over for user testing Positive feedback from users S&S; is an AA/EOE We are proud to be a tobacco free campus.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
