Duties and
Responsibilities: Include teaching applied voice to Commercial Music majors and non-majors. This position reports to the Chair of Commercial Music.
Requires: Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance, Musical Theater, Music Education, Music Composition, or a related field with a graduate degree strongly preferred. Three to five years of performance experience is required. Candidate must have documented professional experience as a soloist in a variety of musical ensembles and familiarity with contemporary performance and production styles. Candidate should be familiar with amplified systems and familiar with in-ear monitoring.
Proficiency on an instrument including piano, guitar or percussion enhances the candidates qualifications. Candidate may teach other courses in the Commercial Music program according to area of specialization and departmental need. Ability to deal with students, faculty, and staff members in professional manner. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others. Ability to clearly communicate. Must comply with established College rules and procedures. This position is security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorized the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Must receive and maintain security clearance for the prison system.
