The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.
Shipping duties typically involve the following: verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents; ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.
Receiving duties typically involve the following: verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods, ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary''s County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary''s County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with database entry and the Microsoft Office
Valid driver''s license
High school diploma and at least one year experience with shipping/receiving activities
Ability to obtain/maintain the required security clearance
Preferred Skills: Knowledge of the LIMS database
Prior experience with DoD shipping/receiving operations
