This position is organizationally located in the Navy Crane Center, Director, Engineering Department, In-Service Engineering Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Portsmouth, Virginia. The In-Service Division is responsible for assisting the 400-plus Navy shore activities around the world in resolving technical problems with weight handling equipment (WHE).
You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. You must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Performing engineering analyses of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) problems.
Reviewing Crane Alteration Requests to load bearing, load controlling, or safety components of cranes for technical adequacy.
Reviewing Weight Handling Equipment Deficiency Reports to determine course of action.

Experience:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing work that involves reviewing electrical engineering principles applicable to Weight Handling Equipment (WHE). This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. Work Environment: Work in hazardous areas where conditions cannot be controlled is intermittent and may be subject to hazardous pay. Work may also be in the open and subject to extreme weather conditions including a wide range of temperatures. Work may be at heights exceeding 50 feet for which the incumbent will receive specialized fall protection training and equipment. Work may be in areas where the incumbent will or might be exposed to radiation, radioactive contamination, or radioactive material and will receive specialized training and be monitored for radiation exposure. Work may be conducted at sites where explosive handling evolutions are in progress.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
