PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Systems Programmer provides software support for less complex components of our operating environment. This position assists with the technical guidance in support of the mainframe operating system environment. The role also takes on backup and or secondary support levels for more complex software configurations to assist senior system programmers with the overall support of our environment. This position contributes to the implementation and support of hardware, software and operational procedures to enhance and maintain performance, high availability, currency, and capacity for mainframe architecture in support of application and/or business requirements as related to their assigned product roles.
In addition, this position is responsible for contributing to the high-level perspective of the day-to-day operational aspects of the department. This perspective produces the ability to identify and recommend efficiencies that can be built into existing processes and procedures. These day-to-day tasks include the development and employment of monitoring techniques to maintain a proactive application/systems management approach.
This position is also expected to step outside of assigned software responsibilities and work to expand their understanding of the mainframe environment and work towards advancement to the Sr. Systems Programmer level.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements assigned system software to include new releases, corrective fixes, vendor maintenance and customization. Works with the team management to plan for assigned software changes to maintain the highest level of availability coordinating with Operations and the Change Management groups. Performs research into new functions available from latest releases of assigned software identifying opportunities to improve our environment.
Supports assigned software environment by providing guidance on the use of the software to fellow systems programmers, applications programmers, operations and other business users of the mainframe infrastructure. This includes, but not limited to, trouble shooting, problem solving and working with the software vendor to obtain corrective fixes.
Participates in projects and tasks to upgrade/migrate supported hardware and operating system software to new or replacement levels. This would include making configuration changes as required, installing software fixes for compatibility for assigned software.
Monitors the use of assigned software to ensure resource utilization is within capacity guidelines. Analyzes the environment to determine customization and/or corrective change to ensure we maintain the highest availability and throughput. Identifies inefficiencies; communicates to appropriate owner of resource consumption and works to correct inefficiencies through accepted tuning guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred
Experience with one or more of the following: Z/OS in a SYSPLEX environment, Workload Manager, USS on Z/OS, DB2, CICS, Performance management, capacity planning, DASD management, system monitoring, RACF/Top Secret Security, TCP/IP and OSA/SF, Coupling Facility environment to include Structure definitions, control and management.
Experience with a mainframe programming language a plus
SMPE a plus
Dump analysis and problem solving
Required
College degree and 2 years of related work experience, or
Associate degree and 4 years related work experience, or
High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years related work experience
2 or more years of experience as a Systems Programmer in a Mainframe environment
Work experience with vendor/non IBM systems software
Strong diagnostic skills
JCL experience
Understanding of project management and control
Ability to communicate ideas and solutions
Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
