Mission Statement
This position is located in the Information Management Division (IMD), Executive Services and Directorate (ESD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS). The Division develops criteria and procedures for the DoD-wide management and implementation of programs such as the:
Regulatory Program, as it relates to certain rulemaking and regulatory matters;
Public Collection Program, as it relates to collections of information from the public;
Forms Management Program, including Forms Design
The Division is responsible for the management, control, and registration of information collection strategies and collection instruments. The Information Management Division establishes policies and procedures for the processing, review, and approval of information requirements. Serving as an alternate Public Information Collection Officer responsible for establishing and conducting reviews, and maintaining an automated inventory of public information collections imposed by DoD on members of the public.
Implementing and managing the Public Collection Program functions pursuant to written policies.
Studying and resolving exceptionally diverse and complex problems relating to the DoD Public Collection Program.
Negotiating and arbitrating common understandings of information needs and requirements from the end user community.
Performing the alternate DoD Public Collection Officer function for all DoD sponsored public information collections, reports, forms, surveys, and questionnaires.
Establishing procedures and criteria, and providing guidance to DoD Components in the management and control of public collection requirements.
Analyzing requirements resulting from major changes in Federal, OMB and DoD policy, urgent requests for new/enhanced programs, and changes in public law, culminating in recommendations to facilitate implementation.
Reviewing draft DoD Issuances, DoD rule makings, and DoD Privacy Act Systems of Records Notices (SORNs) for public information collection requirements.
Handling requests pertaining to Public Information Collections under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C.). Maintains official DoD archival records and files for Public Information requirements.
Utilizing automated systems within IMD to include, as a minimum, a menu-driven automated, relational database and the local area network.
Operating OMB''s ROCIS system, relational databases, a Local Area Network (LAN), the Defense Data Repository System, and the World Wide Web.

You must have one year Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private/military sector) giving the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position.
