Position Description
Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of the Financial Systems Project Manager include managing and performing the tasks necessary for testing, implementation and production support for the general ledger system. In this role, you will oversee and execute testing for general ledger system changes, design and implement process and procedural changes in conjunction with system changes, develop and provide formal and informal training to business users, and assist business users with research and troubleshooting. This position acts as a liaison between ledger system support teams, administration system support teams, and stakeholders across the organization including key areas such as financial reporting, accounting operations, audit, reinsurance, actuarial, investment accounting and operations and handles multiple high priority projects and tasks in an extremely fast paced, complex environment.
Organization Reporting & Structure
This position reports to the Director of Special Projects and Financial Systems.
Performance Objectives
Below are the critical performance objectives for success in this role:
Participate in project teams responsible for changes to Insurance Administration and Financial Systems that impact the general ledger system.
Provide subject matter expertise to system support teams and project teams.
Manage/oversee the development of user acceptance test plans, adhering to published schedules.
Oversee general ledger testers and/or perform testing to confirm that system changes meet business requirements and functional specifications.
Work with Financial Systems support staff to identify updates need to general ledger custom tables as a result of system changes.
Research root causes of production system issues as they occur and work with system support teams to resolve.
Provide excellent customer service to general ledger stakeholders and assist business users with troubleshooting and problem solving related to financial systems.
Provide formal and informal training and advice to stakeholders regarding general ledger data, processing and security models.
Create queries or assist business users with query development to meet their data mining needs.
Position Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
Bachelor's degree and 6 - 9 years of general ledger systems and finance experience.
Financial systems expertise, preferably SAP ECC/ Bl / BPC.
Strong understanding of life, health and annuity insurance products, accounting, and financial reporting highly desired.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio and Access.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-centric and front-line staff perspective.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to make consistent, sound and effective decisions with minimal direction and a positive outlook.
Ability to multi-task with a variety of systems and processes.
Ability to collaborate and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management, on and off-site.
Demonstrated record of consistent strong performance.
